
This is the Monument to the People's Heroes. As you can see, it is very big, towering 10 stories high and made of marbel and granite. It represents China's revolutionary struggles through the 19th to the 20th century. Located on the Southern edge of Tiananmen square and north of Mao Zedong Mausoleum. Construction took 3 years from 1952 to 1958. The 8 Bas-Relieves depicts China's struggles, which is read in order from the east in a clockwise direction.

Here are the events in chronological order: 1) Burning the opium. 2) The Jintian Village uprising. 3) Wuchang Uprising. 4) May 4th Movement(1919). 5) May 30th Movement(1925). 6) Nanchang Uprising. 7) Resistance Against Japan. 8)Crossing the Yangtze River.
