Great Wall cable car

These are the cable cars that lifted us up to the Great wall. Pretty fun little ride, goes pretty slow, and cost about 20 yuan which is equivalent to 3 american dollars.
Im not acually sure if you can climb up to the Great Wall here, because the hills are pretty steep and there are alot of trees.
This part of the Great wall is located North of Beijing, about a 2 hour drive. Not sure what the place is called.

Monument to the People's Heroes

This is the Monument to the People's Heroes. As you can see, it is very big, towering 10 stories high and made of marbel and granite. It represents China's revolutionary struggles through the 19th to the 20th century. Located on the Southern edge of Tiananmen square and north of Mao Zedong Mausoleum. Construction took 3 years from 1952 to 1958. The 8 Bas-Relieves depicts China's struggles, which is read in order from the east in a clockwise direction.

Here are the events in chronological order: 1) Burning the opium. 2) The Jintian Village uprising. 3) Wuchang Uprising. 4) May 4th Movement(1919). 5) May 30th Movement(1925). 6) Nanchang Uprising. 7) Resistance Against Japan. 8)Crossing the Yangtze River.

Beijin, Tiananmen Square

Tiananmen Square or "天安门广场" in simplified chinese has great cultural significance in chinese history, but outside china it is most widely know for the Tianmen Square protests of 1989. Inside Tiananmen Square is the Forbidden City. It house many royal dynasties throughout china's history and is one of the great examples of chinese architecture. To enter there you must go through the Tiananmen Gate or Gate of Heavenly Peace. Its pretty easy to find since right above it is a huge portrait of Mao Zhedong, and believe me it is BIG. Theres alot of things to see here, maily buildings and sculputures, but we werent allowed to go into some of the buildings. We walked for around 3 hours just looking at things before fainly making to the end through the Shenwu men Gate or Gate of divine Prowess, I guess I know why the call it "Prowess" since it took alot of leg strength before reaching it to the end.

Boy, there was alot of people there. They were everywhere and not just chinese people, alot of english speakers too. It felt as though I never left America. They were kinda of funny too, some were very confused and had no idea what they were doing. It makes since though since this is summer and the Beijing Olympics is happening, of course there would be alot of people. There alot of Beijing Olympic merchandise, T-shirts, Hats, Medals, and alot of commercials about the Olympics too.
